Our Story

First meet

23 September 2016

Courtney had started working at Firewater as a receptionist, and she had only been there for about a month when Ian decided to pay a visit.

Unbeknownst to Courtney, Ian was a previous employee of Firewater.

On this fine day, Ian just walked right in with a cheeky smile, not waiting for Courtney to announce him, leaving Courtney with a bit of shock and confusion.

Ian would later rejoin the Firewater team as the Studio Manager.

First date

16 April 2017

What started as an awkward cramped evening in Katy’s Palace ended with deep, meaningful conversations and life stories over really good burgers at GBC.

The interesting part was that Courtney didn’t know it was meant to be a date until just before.

Proposal

13 July 2020

On top of a hill in the middle of Magaliesburg, on a very windy day, Ian, Courtney and Rusty prepared for a family photo. With all the wind, eyes were closed in all the photos so Courtney decided that she would close her eyes until the last few beeps of the camera timer went off. This time the flash Courtney saw was from a ring and not the camera.

Wedding

9 October 2020

We are so excited for this new chapter of our lives and we can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us as husband and wife, But we are even more excited to be taking these first steps with you.

Our Favourite Memories

The Nitty Gritty

COVID

Numbers:
With the current rules being as they are, yes, we are only allowed a maximum of 50 guests at our wedding - although we secretly prefer having a smaller and more intimate wedding 😉

Temperature taking:
Your temperature will be taken on arrival prior to entering the venue

Masks:
Although masks are said to be mandatory, we could think of nothing worse than not being able to see your smiles.
If you insist on wearing a mask, you are welcome to, but it will not be mandatory.

That being said, we do recognise that the virus is still a reality. If you are able to isolate as much as possible for 2 weeks prior to the wedding, we would humbly request that you pretty please do so.

Feeling ill on the day:
If you are feeling ill or experiencing any COVID symptoms, we urge you to please not attend as to avoid spreading any possible infections to staff and other guests. We will completely understand.

Kids

Well, this is always an awkward conversation to have.
So here it goes...

We love your kid(s), we really do, but we really want to spend time with YOU with as little distraction and worry as possible.

Not to mention the ponds, peacocks and 50-person limit that are not very child-friendly.

And so we respectfully request that you make arrangements in light of this.
Let's be honest, you need the break anyway 😉

Alcohol

There will be a cashless (card only) bar available at the pre-reception and reception which accepts most major banks cards. Please do not bring any alcohol on the premises, this includes gifts.

Accommodation

Accommodation is available at the venue, but it is limited, should you wish to stay over please contact us directly, so we can give you the best options.

Gifts

The saying is cliche, but your presence really is the best present. We know we are asking much of you already with taking time off work on a Friday and isolating as much as possible for two weeks.

So we really don't need any gifts, but if you insist, the best gift we could ask for would be a donation to the "Help get Rusty to Ireland" fund. Please contact us directly if you wise to make a contribution.

Dress Code

I am sure most of you are wondering about this.
Semi formal to formal and no jeans allowed on premises.
